POST-PROCEDURE SKINCARE, DESIGNED AROUND MEASURABLE CONDITIONS

ISO9™ is PAGE LAB BIOMEDICS’ post-procedure skincare brand, under development using HSEF Buffer™, the core formulation system of HSEF™ technology. ISO9™ believes skin health begins not with more ingredients, but with the skin’s own balance and resilience. We study the conditions that support the skin’s natural function and balance.

01

Skin-first, not ingredient-first

Good skin begins with maintaining the skin’s natural balance — not with adding more ingredients.

02

Homeostasis first

ISO9™ studies the physiological conditions that support skin comfort and function, taking inspiration from the principle of isotonic balance.

03

Clinic-informed development

Product development is informed by clinician observations, treatment protocols and post-procedure skin responses observed in real aesthetic practice.

04

Beauty that begins with recovery

Healthy skin begins with resilience. We protect the skin barrier and support the skin’s own renewal mechanisms for sustainable skin health.

THE REFERENCE

Why “9”?

0.9

ISOTONIC REFERENCE

The name ISO9™ is inspired by 0.9% sodium chloride solution — widely recognized in clinical practice as isotonic saline.

For ISO9™, the number represents a starting point — the idea of physiological balance — not a formula.

The number is a reference. The product is the result of formulation science.

ISO9™ is a brand name and does not refer to ISO certification.

A DIFFERENT STARTING POINT

Most skincare starts with ingredients. ISO9™ starts with the condition of the skin.

CONVENTIONAL START

“What should we put into the product?”

ISO9™ START

What should touch post-procedure skin?

HSEF™ does not replace active ingredients. It defines the environment in which they are delivered.

POST-PROCEDURE SKIN

Post-procedure skin is in a different state.

Immediately after injectable procedures, energy-based treatments and other aesthetic procedures that place physical or thermal stress on the skin, the barrier and surface environment can temporarily change. Transepidermal water loss may increase, while the skin’s surface hydration, electrolyte environment and pH can shift from baseline.

This is also why even plain water can sting when the skin barrier is compromised.

On intact skin, the stratum corneum serves as an important barrier between the external environment and the tissue beneath. When barrier function is compromised, physical and chemical changes at the skin surface may be perceived more readily. Differences in osmolality, ionic composition and pH can then contribute to sensations such as stinging or burning in sensitized skin.

The question is therefore not only whether a potentially irritating ingredient is present. The physical and chemical environment created by the finished product matters as well.

This is why a product that normally feels comfortable can feel different on skin immediately after a procedure — and why good ingredients alone do not make a product suitable for recovering skin.

ISO9™ does not treat recovering skin as an exception. We define it as the baseline design condition for product development.

Rather than selecting an active ingredient first and building the product around it, ISO9™ begins with the conditions of the finished formulation — osmolality, electrolyte composition, pH and buffering capacity — that post-procedure skin will actually encounter. Ingredients are then selected to function within those parameters.

The first question is not “What else should we add?” but “What conditions should the finished product create for skin in this state?”

THIS IS WHERE ISO9™ BEGINS DIFFERENTLY.

CONTINUOUS FORMULATION IMPROVEMENT

Formulations refined through clinical feedback.

Observations from clinical practice inform future versions. Each proposed update is evaluated before release.

We see launch not as the end of development, but as the beginning of real-world evaluation. Observations from clinicians, differences in skin response, tolerability and user experience in real treatment settings are fed back into formulation development.

This is possible because ISO9™ is developed through a clinic-based R&D model.

Development does not stop at the laboratory door. Products remain connected to the environment in which aesthetic procedures actually take place, allowing clinicians and researchers to observe how post-procedure skin responds, when discomfort occurs and which formulation conditions perform better in practice.

Those findings are then carried into the next formulation.

Even the first launch formulation of a toner does not have to remain its final version. Osmolality, electrolyte composition, pH, buffering capacity, ingredient composition and sensory characteristics are reviewed continuously. When better conditions are identified and supported by evaluation, they are incorporated into the next version.

That is why ISO9™ products have version numbers.

ISO9 Toner v1.0 represents the formulation optimized for its initial release. v1.1 and v2.0 represent subsequent iterations informed by observations and data accumulated in real-world use.

Observed in the clinic. Evaluated in research. Built into the next version.

FORMULATION UPDATE

Carried into the next version of the formula

As long as this cycle continues, the ISO9™ formulation does not stand still.

Not a finished product — a formulation under continuous update.

WHAT WE LEAVE OUT

For post-procedure skin, what you leave out matters as much as what you put in.

Skin after a procedure is not in its usual state.

When the barrier is temporarily weakened and sensitivity to external stimuli is heightened, ingredients and textures that are ordinarily unproblematic can lead to unexpected stinging and discomfort.

ISO9™ is not designed around the assumptions of intact skin under everyday conditions.

We first reduce unnecessary sources of potential irritation and retain only what serves a clear purpose for skin in recovery.

THIS IS A CORE DESIGN PRINCIPLE OF EVERY ISO9™ FORMULATION.

We do not sort ingredients simply into good and bad. What matters is whether an ingredient is necessary for the skin’s condition right now — and whether it could become an unnecessary source of irritation.

Every ISO9™ product is designed on that basis.

Before anything is added, the exclusion criteria are set — and the formula is then built around the functions and the purpose post-procedure skin actually requires.

Keep what is needed. Remove what could irritate.

We believe a product for post-procedure skin should be defined not only by what is added, but also by what is deliberately left out.

HOW IT REACHES THE SKIN

Skincare you don’t rub in.

The way skincare is applied matters more when the skin barrier is temporarily compromised.

When the barrier is temporarily compromised by lasers, needles or energy-based procedures, even routine rubbing or pressing can add unnecessary friction and mechanical stress. Repeated application by hand can also introduce avoidable hygiene variables.

ISO9™ therefore considers not only what is applied, but how it reaches the skin, as part of the product design.

Products intended for immediate post-procedure use are developed around a Spray & Cover approach to minimize rubbing, pressure and unnecessary hand contact.

Mists and toners are finely sprayed rather than wiped on with hands or cotton pads; cleansers are shaped to be sprayed and rinsed rather than rubbed in repeatedly. Sunscreen is designed as a spray to reduce the contact of spreading it across the skin, and concentrated serums and essences are replaced by sheet masks that carry the formulation.

03

Product-specific evaluation

Each product is evaluated under conditions that reflect how it will actually be used. Depending on the product, evaluation may include stinging, discomfort, erythema, TEWL, tolerability and monitoring for adverse reactions. Claims are limited to the evidence obtained.

STINGING · ERYTHEMA · TEWL · TOLERABILITY

ISO9™ does not claim to control the skin’s recovery process. Instead, we focus on what we can design: the environment created by the finished product that comes into contact with the skin.

MEASURED, NOT ASSUMED

We measure the finished product itself.

We measure the finished product itself, not just the ingredients that go into it.

Measured values are shown on the product packaging, including osmolality, isotonic status and the application of HSEF™ formulation technology.

DESIGNED FROM THE CLINIC

Developed from the realities of aesthetic practice.

Repeated observation in aesthetic practice highlighted a practical gap: skin immediately after a procedure does not always tolerate skincare in the same way as intact skin.

ISO9™ was developed to address that gap at the formulation level.

Development draws on observations and review from physicians and anatomy specialists involved in PAGE LAB BIOMEDICS’ R&D.
